Worked very well for the first 2 month and then the steamer start loosing power, now pressure is very low cant even make an espresso. I think I need to make a call to maintenance. At the time of the review I had for 2.5 month and made around 3 coffee per week.

4 weeks later;
Delonghi returned the coffee machine back to me saying there is nothing wrong with it, even tho it is basically useless as it has lost so much power and can no longer push hot water through coffee. Send it back to them again but again they returned and said its fine, I guess as long as it produces any amount of steam they call it workable condition and hence are not interested to really fix it.

I now have to throw it away, but will never ever purchase any Delonghi products, Reliability and aftercare is terrible.

Be very careful when reading a description that mentions the word “professional”. There is no way an espresso machine can be classed as professional when it cost in the region of £100 to £300 pounds. That said, professional or not, an espresso machine should be expected to last years, not weeks or months as has been the case with this DeLongi espresso machine. First purchased as a Christmas present in December 2017 it lasted until the end of February before the plastic surrounds cracked and bits started to fall off, followed promptly by the plastic knob that allows the steamer to work breaking. The machine is noisy, the steamer slow and it drips constantly and is very difficult to keep clean.
Amazon help was excellent and a new machine was shortly delivered in March 2018. By May exactly the same problems had arisen.
The machine is obviously only made for very occasional use (although we only made about 4 coffees a day). Unless you intend to buy it for the odd dinner party and like it’s looks - don’t buy it.
This machine has now been returned and I have invested in a more expensive machine.

Loved it! Arrived promptly and nicely packed. This machine has an awesome vintage style, almost all of it made of stainless steel which is a bonus. Ergonomic, economic with auto off feature, water boiler heats up the water in seconds, the steam is powerful and the steam knob does a very good job adjusting the pressure, and makes a delicious cafe. The Icona leather ''vintage icona'' big tag hanging on the machine is adorable. Having said that, i read a lot of comments about ''cafe is watering'' or ''too thick'' or ''water is leaking through the steam whilst brewing'' etc.

Just improve your barista skills guys! Read the instructions and download the ''De' Longhi coffee expert'' application free of charge. You ll find some awesome tips how to use this machine and make an excellent cafe. You need to experiment a little bit because not all espresso machines produce fine cafe by using them in the same way. I personally found the right balance with this machine by grinding the cafe between 2-3 size medium to fine but NOT thin (my previous machine would not make a nice cafe with size any other than 3 medium). About taping it, I prefer my cafe with a nice crema so i tap it a little bit stronger than suggested. Besides, a good espresso comes out of the machine in ''slow'' speed without a struggle. That means you grid the cafe at correct size and tap it as it should be. If cafe runs from the filter like a ''quick tab water'' (cafe is too thick) or ''painfully slow'' (cafe is too thin) better throw it and try again.

About water leak through the steam when brewing or vise-versa, yes it does leak a bit but is normal for powerful cafe machines to do that and when the steam pressure is high. This is only GOOD NEWS. Is not an issue if the amount is small. 5 stars all the way so far and if anything changes, I ll update the review. Its a cafe insult to rate it lower than 5! :)

We bought the set, coffee machine, kettle and toaster and I've used the coffee machine 500-1000 times over the last 2 years (it's hard to say exactly). That's 5-10 coffees a week not that many. I use my kettle about amount. Both have parts peeling off seemingly at random.

The machine is well cared for, the pumps seem fine even in a hard water area with some simple maintenance. That part seems sturdy and reliable.

But also the buttons from the day of purchase seem to not be terribly responsive especially for turning off the device.

It still makes a decent coffee I can't complain about the output, but how much longer it will last before it sheds all its skin I'm just not sure.

Avevo una mano appoggiata al termosifone e con l altra ho spento la macchina che era in funzione! Ho preso la scossa tanto che non riuscivo a scattarmi ne dal termosifone ne dalla macchina del caffè. Scossa che è partita dai gomiti fino alle mani... terribile!!! Ho scritto alla de longhi l accaduto ma non ho nemmeno ricevuto risposta...
