Don't be deceived by the Dedicas hot looks, you will be lucky to get a warm coffee out of it. This is the 3rd DeLonghi I've had in about 20 years, they're pretty solid, make a decent coffee for their price range and seem to last. I decided to spend a little extra after my Motivo went Kaput! so went for this stylish little number, based not on looks but the various options it has. Its had more effort put into the electrics, programming and options - all good. However it falls at the first and most important hurdle, temperature. This machine will not make hot espresso, by that I mean in the 90 degree range, in fact it won't get anywhere near it. This is not a traditional boiler machine, it uses thermoblock technology, the system is behind the grouphead (not on top of it) and I noticed that despite working with it an entire afternoon the machine at no point got above slightly warm to the touch. I tried with all my favourite coffees to get something to happen with this in stock mode (pressurized baskets) and all it did was make them all taste the same, bland, bodyless, zero aftertaste. Bottom line is this, if you can't get a machine to produce water in the 90s degrees C then you will never get the full taste of your coffee, you will never discover what your coffee has locked within it. The espresso is the base of all the drinks you will make and if it can't even get it in the ball park then, whats the point? It has great options, hard/soft water setting, custom options for self shut down, programmable run rates, its great in that respect and I could see those things coming in really handy but as I say pretty pointless if you can't get the core purpose right. Sadly I had to send it back for that reason. I didn't run a PID on it but used a thermometer as a basic test and the best I got out of it was an espresso at 84 degrees, the worst 78.(digital thermometer then went kaput) you can taste it anyway. Maybe I had a 'wrong 'un' but I doubt it. This has happened a few times recently when trying new machines, luke warm coffee, don't know why, maybe they've been sued too many times in the past and decided to keep the temperatures down!? It also has that really ridiculous 'safety' feature when trying to make multiple coffees, where it makes you manually let steam off by running water through the steam wand before it will allow you to make another espresso, often leaves you waiting for a couple of minutes before you can use the espresso function again. Not good news if after your wonderful dinner party you're going to knock off 6 coffees. What should be a ten minute job will take you 20 minimum. This machine seems determined to never allow you to have HOT water.. Anyway, I'll be sticking with traditional water boilers and steel machines where possible from now on. Its worth doing research on youtube, I retrospectively looked at a few reviews of the Dedica and some even do temperature checks and the profile on this machine is very low temps that creep upwards and for the last few seconds peaks in the mid to late 80s only, which mirrors my experience. If you're just going to knock out capsule coffees this is probably fine and it will look great in your dead tech brand new £30K kitchen (of course you can get capsule machines a lot cheaper) If you want to make great coffee or get into making great coffee this will not be what you're looking for - and of course if you can afford a £30K kitchen why skimp on the espresso machine - get a Gaggia. No quibbles return from Amazon so thankful for that. I wanted to like this machine, really did but it doesn't make good espresso ergo it doesn't make good drinks.

Don't expect a good service

Well it is not an easy machine to get your hands on. The pre ground coffee, measurement, settings everything has to be perfect. I tried testing the setting option on this machine to make the brew & cups more according to me and I regretted for few days before I had to put this back to default setting.

Customer service from Orient Electric - Pathetic. Its been 15 days I am still following up with them to send someone for a demo. I have given up now and manual book is all I have. I am just worried if this machine breaks down someday, will the OE guys really be able to help! God knows.

Price - Quite expensive for what it offers. But that's okay. Once you have mastered it, it does deliver good coffee. And it looks good.

But I'd still call it an average purchase after keeping in mind everything combined which are - experiencing the terrible customer service, initial hiccups to operate and price point.

The machine worked well in the beginning but after a week of very minimal use its stopped pumping water. Really not sure who to call to service it..

This is not a bad coffee machine, but it has a few quirks that are really annoying.

It makes good coffee, the milk steam “wand” is quite effective, and it’s powerful for its small size producing good quality hot coffee.

But the quirks: The filter cups that fit into the dosser (the coffee holder) sometime pop out, the design is really flimsy, and this is really annoying. None of the parts are dishwasher safe so cleaning all the parts by hand after each coffee is a full time job. The blinking lights can be maddeningly uninformative, so keep your manual close so you can decipher their cryptic meanings. And on that, these lights and three buttons are supposed to also help you change the settings, it’s the worst interface, it's like trying to read Morse code. As others have said, its slim but tall design is nice, but it can make it a little unstable.

It does the job if you can live with the annoyance and in places the poor design... But to be honest, I’m not sure I’d buy this again.

Un peu déçu par ce modèle : la chaudière est insuffisante et ne délivre pas un eau assez chaude pour délivrer la saveur du café. C'est dommage car elle est compacte et silencieuse. Echangée pour un modèle avec broyeur de la même marque, là c'est autre chose !

Ho comprato questa macchina da caffè in sostituzione di una De Longhi 201, con la quale mi sono sempre trovato bene. Ho voluto fare un upgrade, grazie anche a una buona offerta qui su Amazon.
In realtà l'ho restituita dopo una settimana a causa di una serie di mancanze o difetti per me difficili da digerire per il tipo di macchina.
Vi spiego per filo e per segno i pro e i contro, secondo me

PRO
- molti parametri si possono programmare, come la temperatura del caffè e la durata di erogazione
- automatismo nell'erogazione: schiacci un pulsante e fa tutto da sola
- caffè decisamente di buon livello

CONTRO
- è facilissimo far partire l'erogazione del caffè montando il portafiltro, perchè non c'è molto spazio per far presa con l'altra mano
- sulla base non ci stanno 2 tazze che non siano 2 tazzine da caffè. Usando una tazza da caffè e una tazza più grande, quest'ultima cade
- difficoltà a montare e smontare il portafiltro. Questo è a pressione, tipo i bottoni automatici, e bisogna usare una certa forza per toglierlo e rimetterlo. Credo che col tempo la cosa possa migliorare.
- il pressino non è parte integrante della macchina da caffè ma è integrato nel cucchiaio di plastica che serve per mettere la polvere nel portacaffè del gruppo. Tra l'altro il cucchiaio di plastica ha una capienza eccessiva ed è conformato male, tanto che è facilissimo sbrodolare la polvere di caffè.

Alla fine, ho restituito questa macchina ricomprando la mia cara, vecchia 201.

A bit of a fussy machine

I spent ages deliberating over a few models in this vague price bracket reading many reviews before deciding the DeLonghi was my best bet. My old machine which had lasted for 12 years was still available (rebranded) but scored only 3.5 stars. This DeLonghi rated higher so I had positive expectations. But it’s a bit disappointing and much more of a hassle than my old machine to operate and keep clean. Here are my top 5 likes and dislikes:

TOP 5 LIKES:
> The machine looks nice and has a small footprint so it fits nicely on the kitchen worktop
> The quality of the coffee that it makes is very good; compared to my previous machine the coffee seems slightly more intense but certainly not more bitter. I think the temperature and pressure control must be spot on.
> The steamer/frother works nicely: It is quite quick and gives a decent 'thickness'. You can also disassemble it all quite easily for cleaning.
> The unit switches itself off after a short while, so if you forget to do that yourself, you're not wasting electricity
> The two programmable buttons are very convenient for a short or long coffee

TOP 5 DISLIKES:
> It is not as simple as you would imagine to go between coffee and steaming especially if you are making more than one latte. This is due to the need to cool the boiler after steaming which means you need to pump cold water through the steamer spout to drop the boiler from 100 degrees back to 60 degrees before it will make another espresso. Plus, it also seems that if you want to turn the steam on for 2 successive milk froths, sometimes the steam just stops for no obvious reason and other times it puts itself back on "non steam" mode and then you end up with loads of water in your milk. You need to keep your wits about you.
> The decalcification cycle is too frequent and takes too long - it starts flashing and expects decalc treatment every 50-100 coffees or so and each decalc takes about 30 minutes. OK, the upside is probably that this protects your machine, but my old machine lasted 12 years without anything like such frequent cleans.
> The menu system for the various options is not memorable to anyone who's not part of mensa. If you lose your instruction manual you won't know how to change any settings.
> The seal in the grouphead against which the portafilter presses is quite difficult to clean (due to tight access). If you get mess on the seal (e.g. coffee granules!... no so unlikely), then the portafilter may end up leaking but putting it right is not possible with a quick wipe. I had to turn my machine upside down and try to clean the seal with cotton buds.
> The portafilter has a removable filter basket which itself has a removable sieve. Seems like a good idea except that a) The sieve sometimes falls out when bashing out the used coffee granules (be careful not to lose it), and b) I think that water can get down the side of the sieve meaning that not all the liquid going into your espresso has truly been through all the coffee. Not sure about this but I've bashed out the coffee granules on a few occasions only to find that the middle of the granules are almost dry as if they've not really had much/any water go through them. That seems odd. But balance this comment with the fact that it does, nevertheless, make a decent espresso so perhaps this is normal (?).

So a mixture of pros and cons. Only because my expectations were higher and the less straightforward daily operation makes me give it a 3 star rating.

Je l'ai acheter pour le rendre compte qu'il fallait un moulin
J'achète un moulin a l'ancienne galère
Du coup j'achète le moulin Delonghi 521 allé encore un bras et le moulin a certain défaut, il ne détecte pas le perforateur
Bref j'aurai du acheter une machine 2 en 1 avec les broyeur
Un seul bloc, un seul prix si je peux vous donnez ce conseil

As a De#Longhi fan, I bought this machine a bit in advance, as I expected problems with the older one. Finally, my old and very basic Delonghi "passed away". I was excited to unpack and use my new machine. Following the instructions, I rinsed it 5 times, and this is where my first doubts started. The machine had much less pressure than the older one. Unfortunately, my forebodings became a reality. The coffee runs out very slowly only from one opening and alas without any cream on the top. I used the same coffee which I used in the old one. Better use it at weekends when I am not under time pressure.
For the rest, the espresso tastes great.
Another inconvenience for me are the three buttons located on the top. In order to put or remove the handle (siebtraeger), one must hold tight the machine accidentally pressing the coffee buttons. So, the machine starts while one detaches the handle.
Anyway, I got a good deal at the time of purchase and I am glad I did not go for a more expensive version. Not always looks and electronics resulting in a higher price make a better coffee.

j'ai acheté la cafetière en novembre 2022 et depuis quelques semaines, le réservoir fuit. Tout juste deux mois après la fin de garantie. Mauvaise qualité. Je ne recommande pas.
