It’s much bigger and heavier than my Flymo and the handle doesn’t fold flat so I couldn’t hang it on the wall any more, so it’s more awkward to store and takes up quite a bit of space. I have steps in my garden and this does not do steps easily and needs lifting over them.
Some assembly is required. You have to create the grass box out of three bits of wobbly plastic. Not as easy as it could be as two of the pieces weren’t quite the same shape and needed a lot of force to clip together. Also it’s big and awkward.
Assembly was ok, but would be a little easier with two pairs of hands. The handle has three, very, very, slightly different angles it can adjust to. The quick release catches illustrated in the instruction book, for the top section of handle, were not supplied. Instead it was big screw on plastic ‘nuts’. This makes it harder than it needs to be to fold down the top part of the handle. Quick release catches for the lower attachment point of the handle were supplied, but this handle section doesn’t really need a quick release.
The battery compartment lid also seems back to front. It hinges at the top, but doesn’t lift fully vertically and so doesn’t clear the space sufficiently to make battery insertion/removal as straightforward as it could be. A hinge at the bottom of this lid would have been far better.
There is a bright orange safety dongle that must be inserted at the handle. This completes the circuit and it is easy to remove, with a fabric wrist strap so it doesn’t get lost – but the strap isn’t long enough to keep it round your wrist while mowing. This saves having to remove the battery for safe working on the underside of the mower.
In operation, you need to press the orange button on the right hand side of the handle first, and then operate the metal bar (similar to those found on petrol mowers), to start the motor. Doing it the other way round doesn’t work.
This mower is not lightweight and is difficult to manoeuvre other than in straight lines. In straight lines it is easy to push. Bear in mind I’ve been using a hover for 30yrs so it might just be a lack of familiarity. I found edges against borders difficult to cut, because as soon as the wheels went over the edge the blade hit the earth. My one lawn edge with paving alongside it cut ok with the outside pair of wheels running along the paved path. The wheels also leave compression marks on the grass because of the weight of the mower.
The grass box has a little orange flap that pops up while mowing. This is supposed to close (blocked airflow) when the grass box is full as an easy visual indicator of when to empty. It didn’t work. It was still half way up when I’d finished mowing and the grass box was overflowing. Lovely idea, but it needs to work.
Height adjustment is a movable lever with 6 presets. The bottom two were too low for my slightly bumpy lawn. The lever is heavy to move because when increasing height you are lifting part of the weight of the mower. The handle on the mower body makes it easier to adjust, but makes it a two handed job.
I have two small lawns, one about 10’ x 10’ and one about 20’ x 20’. A fully charged battery used up two green squares (two-thirds of the charge) on the battery’s charge indicator, so the two batteries are a little excessive for my needs, though I have several other tools that use the same battery pack. I have been using this battery type with other B&D tools for a couple of years and find them reliable and quick to charge.
I loved being free of cable. The motor sounds smooth and is much quieter than my old Flymo. Not much grass accumulates underneath so cleaning is a quick and easy wipe with a cloth. It has a few flaws, but freedom from trailing cable makes them worth putting up with.

Overall I have been really pleased. My 3 objectives have been met and it is a really easy mower to use.
The cut is OK, if not quite as good as my old mower. The height adjustment is easy, but for my lawn (which is bumpy due to mole activity) setting 2 is too low and setting 3 too high. I make do with setting 3 but it does not quite have the fine cut I was used to.
2 batteries is a bonus, although for my 80 sq m lawn I have only ever used one. Getting them into the charger properly can be a bit fiddly, and they don't like to be charged when hot from use. So I charge the previous one up while I use one and that is fine. I also like the separate key to cut off the power.
Assembly of the mower itself is easy, but putting the collection box together (from only 2 parts) needs patience.
My old mower was mulching only (no collection box) and whilst I mainly use the box it does seem to work as well without and the clippings being mulched into the lawn.
I am not sure if I will get 17 years out of this mower (the old one was built like a tank) but this mower is good value to buy and much cheaper to run and so I am really pleased overall.

Not the cheapest cordless lawn mower by some way - but this is a case of you get what you pay for!
Well packaged and delivered on time by Amazon.
Out the box this mower is straight forward to assemble, but the grass box is tricky if you don't follow the instructions and get the sequence back to front !!
Although this cordless mower is built in China and is 90% plastic it is remarkably robust and well made, quite heavy, but that indicates it's not a flimsy cheapo !!
Two batteries (which need charging before use), each giving about 20 minutes of mowing, a reasonable wide cut of 38cm means fewer passes than smaller models which helps with the time spent and area cut on each charge.
Wet/damp grass is no problem provided the mower is set at 2 or above, but the one fault this mower does have is the wet clippings don't discharge to the rear of the collecting box and tend to choke the exit port, way before the box is full, resulting in clumps of wet clipping deposits on the lawn.
Having said that I wouldn't normally mow when my lawn was wet - I just wanted to test the machine in all conditions.
The handle is height adjustable and the start operating process is simple and easy with a slight delay on motor engagement, noise is acceptable and quiter than some mains powered mowers, maneuverability is okay - just takes a bit of practise. Adjustment for height is easy and all four wheels move up/down together with a single lever and should cater for most situations and length of grass.
Black and Decker are a well established name in power tools and this lawn mower does not disappoint - it's well made and I would expect it to be reliable going forward - also mindful of the fact that spares are readily available off the shelf.
All in all I would recommend this cordless lawn mower and give it the 5 stars it deserves.

First time I used it on very long and still wet grass and it coped with it very well. My garden is 40m long and it has trees & all sorts of bumps throughout it. This machine cuts very well around obstacles and I am really impressed how far it reaches. There is not much left to be adjusted with trimmer.
Battery life seems to be good to. First time I used it I went through whole battery and had to use the other one just in the end, but as said before grass was long & wet. Now as I have it under control, one battery last for almost two cuts. Worth to add that battery charge very fast.
I also like that hand reaches quite high, so it is easy to push around.
