I deeply regret buying this. The battery life is so short so a day's readings can never be accurate and unless you display the heart rate on the watch face (which uses even more battery) you can't even see the reading whilst exercising. This is bad for older people who need to make sure their heart rate is not being exceeded on something like a treadmill - the watch face just goes blank after seconds and the touch screen often does not respond. For such an expensive item I found the cheap plastic wrist strap hard on my wrist and to even get a reading it has to be worn quite tightly which causes discomfort. I would return it for a refund but stupidly threw the box away before really testing the product properly - I assumed it would live up to all the hype.

Unreliable data, showing over 100 steps before getting up in the morning and definitely not walking, and showing 1113 kcal used 4 min after midnight - midnight is the turning point. Sometimes it doesn't pick up sleeping data at all. Very slow synchronization since the last update and I'm constantly on chat support because the watch makes its own decisions - it removes data displays or changes settings. The touch screen is so unresponsive, you have to tap it 8-10 times sometimes for the watch to come on. When cycling, there's no display for kcal used only heart rate and time passed, you can only see the overall calories for the workout once synced, this is not useful for weight loss. I get notifications regularly that I just hit my step target when doing the dishes or washing my hair. The most bothering error is when doing high impact cycling, barely alive, and the watch showes my heartrate at 120 (should be above 160) and it doesn't change one bit for half an hour. This results in showing an activity normally measure around / above 500 kcal to be 200 at best. The battery lasts 3 days at best. Disconnects from phone 100 times a day. In addition, the strap caused a really bad irritation to my skin. Normal use left the watch looking battered, and I only do normal daily tasks and cycling while wearing it, but looks like it was dragged along on gravel. For this price I would have expected a watch that works and lasts, but the only reliable info on it is the time.

I love this wee watch. I done alot of research on smartwatches. My sister recommended Garmin but most are quite expensive. This came up tops in reviews that people had wrote and also price and I also chose the 3 month payment option so it worked out well. I primarily wanted a watch to track swimming as I have just started training for first triathlon. It doesnt record your lengths as such but it records how many metres you completed for eg. 1450 and then I just divide that by 25m (pool size) to see how many lengths it was. Gives calories burned also. Have had no issues with its waterproof. Seems good that way. Has a good amount of different activites. It even has Yardwork if your doing some gardening or grass mowing. I find it handy in the night, if i wake up I can see the time instead of trying to fumble around for my phone. When you raise your arm up to look at the time it comes up quickly (I had read under other watch reviews some had abit of a lag). I also love the girly lilac colour

This does the job and accuracy seems fairly decent but definitely a lot of room for improvements. Firstly the touchscreen isn't always the most responsive and for being 2 inches big the images aren't really that sharp. I've seen another well known brand produce crystal clear images on a 2cm screen that with a bit of squinting I could read fairly well without my glasses. Also for such a large screen the data displayed is often scrunched up to one side of the screen with a lot of blank space not being utilised - so I can go out without my phone for gps tracking but not my reading glasses if I wanted to check progress on route!! There's also 2 buttons you need to use and I have to ask why when you have a decent sized touchscreen??? There are loads of widgets and apps that look smart when you're browsing through the app and are apparently compatible with this but once downloaded they frequently just don't seem to be well designed for the venu sq, often looking either too small or just plain hideous so I've given up trying them out and just go with the default apps pre installed. I wish i could say at least set up is quick and easy but so far from it. You first need to download the connect app then to get more apps/widgets you have to get the IQ connect app THEN you have to download connect express which will only work on a PC (tablets, phone or chrome books won't work) to be able to download majority of apps/widgets (seriously WHY??) Battery life isn't great, even with minimal usage you are probably going to be charging it every 2/3 days especially if you use the GPS. It does at least connect with GPS fairly quickly and it does give you an accurate map of your route when you have finished your activity. I'm happy enough to keep going with it but I think garmin needs to invest more in development as I wouldn't be tempted to look at their other models when this one comes to its end of life.

First week: Sync's with Strava, so don't need to track separately (which is fantastic). Variety of watch faces, from info heavy for general use to analog faces for a bit of social. Strap doesn't irritate at all. Distance shows walking distance, not overall (eg cycling). Battery very good, though haven't had it long enough to test.
Issues: Lack of information if you're not used to Garmin. Was initially troubled by the amount of memory for apps, watch faces etc. The HR was, I felt, very inaccurate whilst walking the first time - this may have been due to the device getting used to me, or because I was wearing it too loosely (now records my heart rate accurately whilst resting, or more strenuous activity). The first charge lasted about a week, but the second seemed to drain faster, though I was doing a lot more exercise. After being initially displeased, and annoyed, with it I now love it (along with the colour).

Edit: After 4 months it won't sync with the phone, hours and hours can pass no matter how close the devices are, are far apart, resetting Bluetooth, disconnecting, restarting the phone. This is despite regular erasing phone data for 'easy' upload. Nothing whatsoever. Not worth the hassle. Please buy something else.

After the above was resolved I've had it now 8 months and it frequently crashes in the middle of an activity, setting the weight during a workout, which meant I had to hard reset. Honestly for the price, what am I paying for? The name? Certainly not quality 👎

Another edit: Although generally behaving, it does not update the weather, so it reads 14c wherever I am, no matter how warm or cold, it's always 14c. It used to but I'm beyond caring what Garmin watches decide to do, as they seem to have a life of their own - it only thing it hasn't done us to walkabout by itself.
