My wife was a little apprehensive about setting fire to something and putting it in her pocket. That's understandable as it's not generally the kind of action that leads to a long and happy life. In this case, though, the Zippo Hand Warmer doesn't produce any flames (unless you're doing it very wrong indeed) and is just the right amount of warm to keep your hands comfortable even on the coldest day.
Once you've got it 'lit' (which takes a little while the first time you use it), the natural question seems to be "and now how do I put it out?" to which the answer is simply that you don't. So be prepared for that one. Just put the amount of fuel in that you think you're likely to use and then just accept that it's going to keep going for a long time. Up to 12 hours with a full tank.
Obviously something like this works best with a matching Zippo lighter (after all, they both take the same fuel), and part of me wonders why the two couldn't be combined. Surely you could flick a lighter switch, produce a flame for a few seconds to start the catalytic burner and then just flip the lid back on. Doesn't seem too complicated to me, but there's probably some fundamental engineering consideration that I've missed. This is just one reason why I don't work for Zippo.
Five stars anyway for being a very nicely made hand warmer which can genuinely stay warm all day. And it doesn't set you on fire.
