Nachdem mein bald 30 Jahre alter Sennheiser (HD 560 Ovation II) allmählich auseinanderfällt, wollte ich zur Unterstützung was Neues anschaffen. Für den AKG K702 habe ich mich entschieden, weil der in der angeblich so seriösen Fachpresse als Preis-Leistungs-Klangwunder bejubelt wurde. Behaupten kann man ja alles Mögliche.... Die Realität sah dann so aus: Was auf Fotos sehr edel nach Leder und Metall aussieht, erweist sich in Wirklichkeit durchgehend als billiges Plastikdings, auch der Bügel (lt. AKG-Produktbeschreibung angeblich aus Leder!).

Aber jetzt das Wichtigste: Der Klang ! Schlimm. Extrem höhenbetont, Bässe fehlen völlig, das Klangbild ist kalt, es fehlen Tiefe und Wärme. Anfangs stört das noch gar nicht mal so sehr, aber nach ungefähr 20 Minuten wird dieser höhenintensive Klang unangenehm, nicht schrill, aber so, dass es einem einfach zu viel wird. Etwa so, wie eine hohe Stimme nach einer gewissen Zeit auf die Nerven geht.
Definitiv kein Kopfhörer für Pop/Sou/Jazz, bestenfalls was für Klassikhörer, die nicht zu große Ansprüche stellen. Im Vergleich zu meinem Sennheiser-Opa (damals ca. 350,--DM) klingt der K702 wie ein Transistorradio.

Noch was zur "Pass"form: Einerseits sind die Ohrmuscheln elefantesk groß, andererseits presst der Bügel sie nach unten hin stark zusammen, was dazu führt, dass der Kopfhörer gleichzeitig zu groß und trotzdem stellenweise zu eng ist (schwer zu beschreiben, anders gesagt: es drückt und wackelt).

Hier zahlt man ganz klar für den Namen, vergleichbare Kopfhörer, was Klang, Material, Verarbeitung angeht, gibt es für weniger als die Hälfte.

How do these phones measure up against the K601 & K240? Update :: The plastic is too flimsy, ditching this brand.

I am the previous owner of both the AKG K601 And K240. And this review is for a product I have had less than 1 hour, so please take this in to account. I feel compelled to leave a review now because I am somewhat dismayed by some quality issues I have noticed, given the price of these phones. I still have my K601's and they are just barely hanging on (literally wiring/design flaw). The sound is okay to decent, probably because the drivers are new, so I really can't fully qualify the sound, but it sounds 7/10ish currently, where despite degraded wiring I would rate the 601's around a 9/10. Now to the big issues I have with this product, firstly, the head band is horribly stiff, probably because it's not broken in, but it is worth pointing out IMO. Secondly, the ear pads for this product (my real gripe) are absolutely horrible. Yes, they feel like Styrofoam wrapped with cloth, I am so disappointed in these pads, I am so sure knock offs on ebay would feel much better than these. Two thumbs down for the ear pads, I have promptly replaced them with my ratty 601 pads, I will not put those things around my ears, I can't believe they are as stiff as they are. Thirdly, the banding which connects both ends of the foams doesn't seem as 'sturdy' as my 601's, but it's nearly the same diameter, but still seems to lack a certain quality about it.

Now, extra information about AKGs, firstly the plastic pieces which hold the leather (real?) to both ends of the phones do break over time, this is something I thought AKG would have solved over the last 7+ years which I owned t he 601s, but they have not. AKG should redesign that aspect of their product line as they don't live long, and it looks like crap. A year or two ago I took to adapting elastic to replace those parts, which didn't look half bad. One of the reasons I chose the 702s was because of the detachable chord, which is a big design flaw on the 701's/601s. The strain on the chord causes the wiring in the inside to eventually become distorted and weaken, to eventually fail, which is the principal reason I am replacing my 601s, despite the ratty appearance.

So, if the drivers really never work out for me, I will probably swap in my 601s (rework/solder them in), not a bad set of phones if AKG decide to ditch those ridiculous ear foam pads. These cans cost over 200$, people should not have to deal with rigid foam pads around their ears.

*** Update, just like the K601, the plastic bits on the side which hold the head band broke, and broke and then broke again. These things were designed to take zero abuse. Not happy with the quality of the plastic, the price is far too high for a flimsy set of cans. (1 year , 3 months after purchase) ... Not even bothering with warranty service, I don't care for this brand anymore, their design is horrible and has been horrible for many years. These people need to get a grip and realize how poor the construction/reliability is.

I bought these exclusively for gaming, driving them with a topping dx3 pro+(no gain, 70%).

Very good sound quality, clarity and detail separation. Imaging is sharp and you will not realize how difuse the imaging is on a gaming headset until you try a proper pair of headphones.
Bass is light but its there and again compared to generic gaming headset(razer, logitech, etc) you will notice the quality of the bass not just quantity.
Soundstage is good, will help you place the proximity of enemies with higher accuracies.
For gaming these will definitely remove any bottleneck at least on your end, bad audio engines aahem warzone will still fail, like footsteps missing.

Now comfort, its light(so is the clamp) but you can tell because you can read the specs what you cant read is how damn stiff and rockhard the earpads are. Your flesh around the ear will conform to the earpads not the other way around, for unsable due to this literally pressing on nerves around the ear causing ear numbness and tooth pain.
Maybe in time the headset will loose more of the clamp but no time for that lol. Got brainwavz pads, all good now.

Also removed the 2khz and 6khz spikes with eq.
Would buy again, its sad they cheaped out on the pads.

Edit: Well I will return them, I knew there was the possibility, the soldering came loose on the left earcup and sound comes in intermittently. What a shame. Returned one, bought another and the same issue occured within 2 months. A shame

Das, was ich gehört habe, war überzeugend. Ebenfalls der Tragekomfort lässt sicher längere Session zu. Leider hatte ich das Pech, dass das Teil nicht in Ordnung war und ich es zurückgeschickt habe. Schade- ist ein toller Kopfhörer.

Alors oui ça sonne tres tres tres tres bien, c'est audiophile surtout dans les voix et les medium les aigues aussi sont extrement clair et beau le confort et tres bon on ne sens pas le casque qui est tres large au niveau de ça circumauralité ... les basses par contre sont moyenne ce n'est pas un casque basseux du tout du tout enfin ça va quand meme.

alors pourquoi 1 etoile ...attention j ai eu des douleurs au oreilles et accouphene avec visite chez specialiste orl peut etre que j ai ecouter trop fort la musique je ne sait pas peut etre trop longtemps sans pause ( normalement il ne faut pas depasser 1 heure ) et faire une pause de 10 minutes ... bref je ne sais pas ce qui c passer mais apres avoir utiliser ce casque j ai eu des douleurs aux oreilles et je trouve que l on ne parle pas assez des dangers des casques audio ( philes ) ... vraiment le son est copieux magnifique parfois suivant ce qu on ecoute mais le risque est la donc il faut ecouter pas longtemps et pas trop fort utiliser sur samsung s8 ( meilleur que sur mon macbook pro retina 2017 ) fonctionne bien mais pourrai etre encore mieux avec un ampli mais alors la attention les oreilles x 1000 a ecouter surtout pas trop fort et pas trop longtemps je trouve que les journalistes casque audio ne parle pas assez de ce probleme qui est pourtant réel et douloureux.

Schön wenn man die billige matte Plastikoberfläche mit einer Folie schützt (wozu?) aber dann sollte sich diese auch ablösen lassen. Hier bleiben klebrige Rückstände am Produkt. Insgesamt alles aus Plastik, keine schöne Haptik. Wirkt minderwertig. Klang ist soweit ok. Bin noch nicht sicher ob ich das behalte. Das Auspacken war schon mal nix und das gehört ja auch zur Produkterfahrung dazu.

Escribo con unos 8 o 9 meses usandolo a diario en mi homestudio, y al final he desistido porque no refleja nada el sonido plano o real, lo cual lleva a confusiones y a repetir mil veces el trabajo.
la relacioón graves medios y agudos van a su bola, pero en general, graves inexistentes medios exagerados y chirriantes, y agudos como si fuesen medios más molestos. Imposible obtener una referencia real.
Se puede comparar con cualquier analizador de espectro. Al final calibras mil pistas para tener que repetir. he intentado guiarme por sus sonido a su bola y tener una referencia aunque sea irrealmente aproximada pero no hay manera.
Utilidad?...... Pues no sabría decir.... Son cómodos, quizá si hace mucho frio para calentar las orejas con transpiración.

I am very fussy on my music and use flac music files on my LG V60 phone with built in dac. I tried these headphones can't understand what people ate going on about that sound is amazing etc. I found quiet the opposit. The sound was awful tried on several pieces music hi-fi also. The treble was harsh and middle I found bit flat and bass not that much low end. I found the stage was too wide I expected so much from these knowing the reviews. I was even thinking of upgrading to the 712pro if these were great but I was majorly disappointed. I sent back for refund in so upset the sound was just awful. Build quality was great very lightweight and great cable you also get. But none this matters if the sound is just not there. Well not sure what say really just feel sad that they didn't sound like the reviews I've seen unless they are paid to do a review lol not sure they even honest reviews. Well thats me looking for another pair now ill find those amazing headphones some day lol.

Skip these and buy from a different company like Beyerdynamic. They will do everything in their power to avoid paying on a warranty. Mine broke a year after I got them. Put them down one day and the next day I put them on no more sound out of the right ear. Was not harsh with them and they are on a home with no kids or animals.

Ich hatte immer viel Gutes von AKG gehört und auch selbst erfahren dürfen was den Klang und die Qualität angeht. Aber das was da geliefert wurde wirkt wie eine billige China Fälschung von AKG selbst. Was zur Hölle ist da passiert frage ich mich?! Ist es ein Auslaufprodukt wo an der Hardware gespart wird?! Ich hatte diesen Kopfhörer schon mal getestet, aber das war wo es noch ein Neuprodukt war und von einem Kollegen der Musiker ist. Das Teil hatte soo einen guten Klang, war aus Leder und war im Allgemeinen einfach hochwertig. Das Teil was hier auf Amazon verkauft wird ist durch & durch aus Plastik und der verbauter Lautsprecher entspricht ohne zu übertreiben einen 20€ Kopfhörer. Alles was hier noch stimmt ist die Optik wo im ersten Moment vermittelt werden soll es handle sich um einen K702 aber es ist absolut keiner. Wenn ihr einen haben wollt schaut das ihr einen originalen Gebrauchten holt. AKG fälscht inzwischen seine eigenen Produkte, Systemverwerfung im Endstadium würde ich sagen.. traurig
